Saucony running shoes have been some of the best athletic footwear on the market since they were first made in 1898. With over a century of experience, it’s hard to believe Saucony is still innovating and improving their classic style — but with the new Saucony Ride 17 and Saucony Guide 17, this brand is better than ever!
Saucony understands that running is more than just a sport: it’s a culture of performance and style combined. They’ve been trailblazers in both shoe technology and appearance for decades, and have a worldwide band of loyal customers to prove it.
Whether you’re a Saucony superfan or just curious what they’re all about, check out the updated features in Saucony’s newest releases, the Ride 17 and Guide 17.

Saucony’s Ride 17: What’s New and Notable
Saucony’s Ride 17 was created for a purpose: to decrease screen time and increase run time. By creating a supremely comfortable, optimized, and attractive shoe, Saucony’s Ride 17 encourages runners to put the phone down and lace their shoes up.
Here’s what’s notable in the Saucony Ride 17.
Completely Revamped Cushioning
Saucony took their already-comfortably PWRRUN cushioning and made it even better with the redesigned PWRRUN+. It’s constructed at a lower density, making it lighter and softer than ever. This plush underfoot promises a comfortable stride and reduced feeling of impact on your ankles and joints.
But don’t think extra cushioning will slow you down, though — PWRRUN+ boasts a high energy return due to its springiness and responsiveness. It’s also more durable, so you can run for longer in just one pair of shoes.
Increased Outsole Coverage
Extra outsole material along the sides and heel result in greater protection for your feet and durability for your shoe. It also helps with stability and guidance.
Neutral Design
Compared to the Guide 17 below, the Ride 17 is a neutral shoe. This means it does not have any features that correct or guide your steps, such as stability posts.
Neutral shoes are best for runners who have normal to high arches and who do not struggle with overpronation or plantar fasciitis. It’s also a great option for beginning runners who are still getting a feel for what kind of support they need.
The Saucony Ride 17 is available in men’s and women’s styles both in store and online at Goodmiles Running Company. Shop today to see how this updated style can change your running game!
Saucony’s Guide 17: What’s New and Notable
The Saucony Guide 17 isn’t just updated: it’s a completely redesigned stability shoe. Stability shoes are best for runners who overpronate or have low or fallen arches.
Here’s what’s notable in the Saucony Guide 17.
New Stability Methods
A typical stability shoe (including the previous model of the Guide) features a medial post, which is a firm piece of EVA or plastic along the inside of your foot that stops you from overpronating. The Guide 17 removes this post and replaces it with new stability features.
The Guide 17 has firm, dense sidewalls around the medial (inner), lateral (outer), and heel of your foot. While still guiding your steps and preventing rolling, sidewalls create a more subtle feeling of support than do typical stability posts, resulting in a smoother ride.
This style also has a wider sole with flares on both the medial and lateral sides of your foot. Combined with a larger lateral crash pad, this creates a very stable platform for feet that need extra guidance.
Noticeable Rocker
The Guide 17 is a highly rockered shoe, which means that it mimics the natural curve of your foot to help you roll through your steps. As you transition from heel to forefoot, you’ll feel a “rocking chair” motion that smoothly propels you from one step to another.
Rocker shoes are good for those who strike with their heel and need shoes with extra stability. Rockers also help with heel pain, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendon issues, and more.
Softer Cushion
Compared to the Guide 16 and other stability shoes, which typically feel very firm and stiff, the Guide 17 has more cushion for a softer feel underfoot. The greatest difference will be felt in the forefoot, but there is more PWRRUN foam throughout the length of the shoe.
The Saucony Guide 17 is available in women’s and will be available soon in men’s both in store and online at Goodmiles Running Company. Keep an eye out for this new and improved stability shoe!
